The first of such events was held in 2009 where some 16 people attended The Goddess House to pay tribute to the pre-Greek Goddess of the Crossroads, Hekate through .
During the ritual, attendees laid offerings upon the altar and light a candle in honour of one of the many different aspects of this often misinterpreted Goddess. A journey with the Goddess was then undertaken. At the conclusion of the sacred ritual, participants then enjoyed a lavish Greek inspired feast.
The Dark Goddess
Encountering the Dark Goddesses
Since its conception in 2006, The Goddess House has hosted a variety of versions of this workshop allowing for a wide range of different guises of the Dark Goddess to be explored through the mediums of ritual, myth and meditation.
Some of these Goddesses have included:
Persephone (Greek Queen of the Underworld),
Sekhmet (Egyptian Goddess of destruction),
Kali (Hindu dark Mother who created time, the Sanskrit alphabet and the Universe which she nearly destroyed),
Hekate (pre-Greek Goddess of the Crossroads),
Pele (Hawaiian Goddess of volcanoes and destruction),
Oya (African Goddess of storms and winds),
Cerridwen (Celtic keeper of the Cauldron of Knowledge), and
Baba Yaga (the Slavic Crone of initiation).
It is with much delight to announce that Frances Billinghurst, the facilitator of these popular workshops, will be releasing her long awaited book on the
Dark Goddess later in 2015.
Homage to Hathor
Homage to Hathor (Het-Hert)
On Saturday, 29 November 2008 The Goddess House hosted a ritual in honour of the Egyptian Goddess Hathor that celebrated and honoured the sacred womanhood.
Many offerings and gifts were presented to the Great Egyptian Goddess, including the painted image that hung over the altar and the handcrafted collage placed before it.

Exhortation of Isis
You are She in the dust of whose feet is the hosts of Heaven,
Whose body encircles the Universe,
Who turns the Earth in its orb,
Who gives light to the Sun,
Who rules the World.
You tread death underfoot.
To Thee, the stars are responsive,
To Thee the seasons turn and the Gods rejoice
And the elements are in subjugation.
You are She that is the natural Mother of all things,
Mistress and governor of all elements,
The initial progeny of worlds,
Chief of Divine powers,
Queen of Heaven,
Principle of all the Gods celestial and the light of Goddesses.
At Your will are disposed the planets of the air,
The wholesome winds of the seas
And the silences of the unseen world.
