Hekate Supper and Ritual

Hekate Supper
First held in 2009 where some 16 people attended, The Goddess House now hosts an annual supper and ritual in honour of the Greek (?) Goddess of the Crossroads, Hekate.

During the ritual, attendees lay offerings upon the altar and light a candle in honour of one of the many different aspects of the Goddess. A journey with the Goddess is then undertaken before evening concludes with a Greek inspired feast.

The Dark Goddess
Embracing and Encountering the Dark Goddesses

Over the years The Goddess House has held a number of workshops where different guises of the Dark Goddesses were explored through ritual, myth and meditation.

Some of these Goddesses have included:
  • Persephone (Greek Queen of the Underworld),
  • Sekhmet (Egyptian Goddess of destruction),
  • Kali (Hindu dark Mother who created time, the Sanskrit alphabet and the Universe which she nearly destroyed),
  • Hekate (pre-Greek Goddess of the Crossroads),
  • Pele (Hawaiian Goddess of volcanoes and destruction),
  • Oya (African Goddess of storms and winds),
  • Cerridwen (Celtic keeper of the Cauldron of Knowledge), and
  • Baba Yaga (the Slavic Crone of initiation).

Homage to Hathor

Homage to Hathor (Het-Hert)

On Saturday, 29 November 2008 The Goddess House hosted a ritual in honour of the Egyptian Goddess Hathor. Frances, the Priestess in Residence of The Goddess House, painted the representation of the Great Goddess which hung over the altar.

There were nine priestesses in attendance who all took part in the afternoon ritual. Many offerings and gifts were presented to the Great Egyptian Goddess. As this was a celebration and honouring of sacred womanhood, we also partook in making individual moisturiser creams, and following the ritual, joined in a wonderful feast.

Exhortation of Isis

You are She in the dust of whose feet is the hosts of Heaven,
Whose body encircles the Universe,
Who turns the Earth in its orb,
Who gives light to the Sun,
Who rules the World.

You tread death underfoot.
To Thee, the stars are responsive,
To Thee the seasons turn and the Gods rejoice
And the elements are in subjugation.

You are She that is the natural Mother of all things,
Mistress and governor of all elements,
The initial progeny of worlds,
Chief of Divine powers,
Queen of Heaven,
Principle of all the Gods celestial and the light of Goddesses.

At Your will are disposed the planets of the air,
The wholesome winds of the seas
And the silences of the unseen world.
