About The Goddess House

The Goddess House
The Goddess House is a physical shrine and sacred space dedicated to  the Great Goddess, the Divine Feminine, that is located in Parafield Gardens, about 20 minutes north of Adelaide's CBD.

The original idea behind The Goddess House was first conceived back in the mid 1990s from a desire to provide a sacred space where the worship and honouring of the Great Goddess could be held within our modern age.  A place where those seeking to bring back the balance of the Divine Feminine into their lives can gather, forming a sense of community and support in a safe and nurturing environment.  The Goddess House offers a sacred space where women can truly connect with a Deity in whose image they are created.

Egyptian Altar
In 2007 The Goddess House first opened its doors, offering a sacred space where devotional services to the Goddess were conducted on a regular basis.  These devotional services continued throughout 2011 and in 2012 a change was made to include men in these services which acknowledge the Divine Masculine and Beloved of the Goddess.

During 2013 it was decided that the monthly devotional services be placed on hold until further notice to allow Frances to focused on finalising the manuscript for her second book, which will be about the Goddess. Her first book, Dancing the Sacred Wheel: A Journey through the Southern Sabbats, was first published in November 2012, with the second edition published in November 2014 where it became accessible through Amazon.com in both paperback and electronic format.

Glastonbury Goddess Temple
In September 2013, Frances was fortunate to travel to England, Ireland and Scotland where she identified with a number of sacred Goddess sites, as well as a visit to the Glastonbury Goddess Temple.  This visit has inspired Frances to complete her second book In Her Sacred Name: Writings  on the Divine Feminine, which is also available through Amazon.com as well as all other Amazon affiliated stores.

In Her Sacred Name: Writings on the Divine Feminine contains a collection of essays about the Goddess from  historical origins through to specific aspects that the Sacred She was known by around the world from cultures as diverse as ancient Egypt, Greece, Africa and Mesopotamia.  Also contained within this book are ways to (re)establish one's connection with the various aspects of the Goddess in the 21st century through the construction of shrines and altars, meditations and performing specific rites.

In 2015, Frances commenced working on her third book, an international anthology entitled, Call of the God: An Exploration of the Divine Masculine within Modern Paganism, and has also started working on her fourth book based on the workshops she has been running since 2006 on the darker aspects of the Goddess.

The Priestess in Residence
Frances first connected with the concept of the Divine Feminine in the late 1980s through her interest in mythology as well as books such as "Spiral Dance" by Starhawk and "Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley.  This connection was strengthened and become more personal when, in 1993 during a Wiccan rite known as "Drawing Down the Moon", the great Egyptian Goddess As't (Isis) made Her presence felt.

in Residence

Since that experience, Frances has continued to strengthen her own relationship with the Divine Feminine - the ancient Matriarch - the Great Goddess - with her personal journey including the exploration of the sacred (and often forgotten) lore of the Goddess, as well as personal journeying in order to perceive the feminine aspect of Deity.
Already an accomplished ritualist and initiated Wiccan High Priestess, Frances felt that there was a need to establish The Goddess House as a separate entity in order to provide the teachings of the Goddess are accessible to all women who are interested in hearing them, regardless of their spiritual and/or religious beliefs.

Rite to Kali Ma
Over the years she has led specific rituals in honour of Hathor (Egyptian Goddess of Beauty), Kali-Ma (Hindu Dark Mother), Hekate (pre-Greek Goddess of the Three ways), Yemaya (West Africian Ocean Goddess) and the Green Tara (Buddhist bodhisattva), to name a few.  She has also been holding open Full Moon Gatherings since 2004, as well as conducting an assortment of workshops on the Goddess, especially the Dark Goddess.

In addition to this, Frances has led the opening and closing rituals at the New Zealand Pagan Festival (2003 and 2010), as well as presenting lectures as these events as well as the Australian Wiccan Conference (2009 and 2011), the Australian Goddess Conference (2010 and 2014) and the Goddess Gathering (2011).

Full Moon Healing
From 2002 and for the following ten years, Frances was a regular contributor to Insight (Australia's No.1 spiritual lifestyle magazine) until its last issue in August 2012.  Her articles and essays have also appeared in numerous other publications, and in more recent times anthologies including:
Unto Herself: A Devotional Anthology for Independent Goddesses (about Neith),
The Faerie Queens (about Morgan le Fay),
A Mantle of Stars: A Devotional Anthology to the Queen of Heaven (two essays accepted),
By Blood, Bone and Blade: A Tribute to the Morrigan (poetry), and
Naming the Goddess (Ereshkigal) to name a few.

Frances also has essays in the forthcoming anthologies including Shield of Wisdom: A Devotional Anthology in Honor of Athena, Bosom of Isis and Daughter of the Sun: A Devotional Anthology in Honour of Sekhmet.

In offering herself as Priestess in Residence of The Goddess House, Frances serves the Goddess in providing a sacred space where, through the sharing of knowledge and experience with others, all women are able to re-connect with this ancient, yet powerful force, and experience that connection on a deeper and more sacred personal level.

Great Goddess Isis

Great Goddess Isis

Exhortation of Isis

You are She in the dust of whose feet is the hosts of Heaven,
Whose body encircles the Universe,
Who turns the Earth in its orb,
Who gives light to the Sun,
Who rules the World.

You tread death underfoot.
To Thee, the stars are responsive,
To Thee the seasons turn and the Gods rejoice
And the elements are in subjugation.

You are She that is the natural Mother of all things,
Mistress and governor of all elements,
The initial progeny of worlds,
Chief of Divine powers,
Queen of Heaven,
Principle of all the Gods celestial and the light of Goddesses.

At Your will are disposed the planets of the air,
The wholesome winds of the seas
And the silences of the unseen world.
