Goddess Moon Devotional rosary with red jasper

The use of a string of beads for prayer or in meditative practice is extremely wider spread than what many people may realise. Rosaries, as used within the Catholic Church, are believed to have been created somewhere between the 12th and 13th centuries as a form of devotion to the Mother of God, Mary. Referred to as the “Queen of Heaven", Mary appears to have been a continuation of other deities who held that title, in particular the Canaanite Astarte and Egyptian Isis.
The rosary beads as used within the Catholic Church are usually broken down into five decades (or group) of ten beads each upon which is recited the Hail Mary. On the bead that separates each decade a prayer that honours a specific mystery in the life of Mary is recited.
The rosaries used within the Anglican Church is a configuration of 33 beads (representing to the number of years that Jesus lived) that is divided into four groups of seven“weeks” between which is a single “cruciform” bead. The seven “week” beads have various associations including the number of days of creation, the number of the seasons of the church year, and the number of the sacraments. The four groups of beads (“quadrants”) relate to the points on the cross, the seasons in the year, and even the cardinal directions (north, south, east and west).

There are 108 beads that make up the traditional mala bead sets which are found within Buddhist and Hindu traditions where they are used as a tool to assist in focusing one's concentration during spiritual practices that often involve chanting or meditation.
Even within Islam, the 99 beads contained within the Tesbih prayer beads (symbolism the various names that God (Allah) is known by.
The Goddess Moon Devotional rosaries crafted by The Goddess House and on sale through LunaNoire Creations, incorporate the sacred numbers of three and nine (three times three). Consisting of nine 10mm beads (27 beads in total) each in white opalite, red coral and black onyx, these sections relate to the triple phases which the Goddess is more commonly associated with (Maiden, Mother and Crone). Between each section, silver spacer beads can be found (some with charms) and at the completion of the rosary “round” (symbolic of the universe, creation and the cyclic nature of all things), a larger bead can be found representing completion of the lunar cycle.
