Often associated with Spring and in particular the early Spring festival of Imbolc, there is also a fiery side to this seemingly passive Goddess. Brighid is the patroness of metal workers and crafters of all kinds. She is often pictured at her sacred forge where she rules over the art of smithcrafting, or she can be found around the hearth fire through which she brings the blessings of warmth and light into the home.
Brighid is also the Goddess of Creative Expression and as such, is the patroness of poets, writers and bards, lending grace and inspiration to all manner of creative writing.
It is through her sacred fires of creativity and inspiration that Brighid illuminates our natural and true state of inspiration, allowing for our creative energies to flow freely. We are empowered, motivated and inspired to create. With this energy we realise our innate and eternal connection to the divine source, we realise our own inner light is illuminated divine essence. We remember that we are an aspect of the eternal flame of inspiration and that we are always aligned with divine inspiration.
There is another side to Brighid's sacred fires and that is the transformation which they bring. This can be seen within the Australian landscape where many of the native plants actually require the extensive heat in order to germinate. In embracing fire, the element as well as what it represents, we gain a deeper understanding of the fire within our own selves and how best to use it.
