Green Tara and the Buddha

The next devotional service to be held at The Goddess House (next Tuesday, 9 October 2012) will be in honour of the Green Tara and the Buddha.

The Green Tara is often referred to as the "Buddha of the Enlightened Activity".  She is known as the "Mother of Mercy and Compassion" and is the female aspect of the universe, which gives birth to warmth, compassion and relief from bad karma as experienced by ordinary beings in cyclic existence.

The Green Tara engenders, nourishes, smiles at the vitality of creation, and has sympathy for all beings as a mother does for her children.  She also offers protection from all the unfortunate circumstances that we may encounter within the samsaric world.
The Buddha was originally the Nepalese prince, Siddhartha Gautama, who, after witnessing the stark realities of old age, death and disease, sought a path of spiritual enlightenment in order to understand such things.  It was through a meditative journey under the sacred fig (the Bodhi tree) where he battled Mara (illusion) and he became enlightened.

During the service on Tuesday night we will be reciting Tara's mantra which, according to the Drupon Sangyas, can also assist those who suffer from health problems.  All you need to do is to visualise the Green Tara embracing and healing that part of body whilst reciting the mantra:

OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SVAHA

If you are not able to join as next Tuesday, we do offer free healing during these devotional services.  To be added to our list, please contact the Priestess in Residence prior to 6:00pm (South Australia time) on 9 October 2012.
