Short Study On-Line Courses

During 2018 The Goddess House envisages being able to offer a number of short (and reasonably priced) on-line courses that will explore various aspects of the Goddess, the Sacred She.  All of these courses will be personally researched and written by our Priestess in Residence, Frances Billinghurst, who is also the author of a number of books including In Her Sacred Name: Writings on the Divine Feminine

The aim of offering such courses is to make the teachings available for people who are not able to physically attend the workshops that Frances has run over the years.  These courses will include:

Embracing the Goddess
Take a journey through time from the first images crafted of the Divine Feminine, the Great Mother, through to the temples of antiquity and right into our modern age where temples and sacred places are being reconsecrated in the name of the Sacred She, the Goddess.  Reconnect with this sacred energy of our fore-mothers and learn the simple yet immensely self empowering rites that will bring you closer to Her.

On Her Silver Rays
The Goddess is often associated with the moon within contemporary Pagan traditions and women's spirituality.  She was known as Artemis, Selene and Hekate to the ancient Greeks; as Arawa to the Suke and Pokot traibes of Kenya and Uganda; Coyolxauhqui to the Aztec; Ix Chel to the Mayan; and Zirna to the ancient Etruscans.

Just prior to each new moon you will receive information about a different lunar Goddess each month, teachings about specific moon and celestial lore as well as rituals and sacred rites for you to participate in.

Celtic Queens and Warrior Women
Amongst the legends of the Celts have emerged a number of powerful women.  Some are historically known to us such as Boudicca of the Iceni and Cartimandua of the Brigantes.  For many others, however, their lives are not so clear – were they actual figures or just myths?

From the misty Scottish Isles of Skye, Scathach was known to have trained many of heroes, including the Irish hero, Cu Chulainn, who is also mentioned in the myths surrounding the Irish Queen Macha.  There was another Macha, (or was it Maeve/Mabd), a Goddess this time, who cursed the men of Ulster for nine generations for their mistreatment of women. And what about the Washer of the Ford and the foreteller of prophecy, the Morrighan, who also stalked the battle fields?

Ladies of Avalon and King Arthur's Court
The mystical isle of Avalon has long held fascination over us, and so too have the tales of chivalry and betrayal that emerged from King Arthur's round table at the legendary Camelot.

This short course explores the lives and loves of many of the ladies who appeared from this ageless enchantment - Viviane, the Lady of the Lake, Gwenhwyfar, Morgan le Fay, Igraine, Elaine, Nimue, Morgawse.

Exploring the Magick of Egyptian Goddesses
Through the use of myth, ritual and magick, we will reconstruct some of the most ancient and holy rites that will allow these powerful Goddesses to come forth into our modern age.  Six Goddesses in particular will be focused on as our journey begins under the starry cloak of Nut, the Goddess of the sky and heaven.  The Mistress of Magic, As't, and her shadowy twin Nephthys will join us as will Ma'at, the Egyptian Goddess and concept of universal truth and justice.

Feel the unique powers of Sekhmet the fiery avenger and the gentle Goddess of beauty Hathor as they teach us of how balance and transform anger into beauty through the art of healing.

Encountering the Dark Goddess

Often associated with our "shadow" self, those undesirable or unacceptable aspects, this aspect of the Goddess flits amongst  our peripheral vision, taunts us in our nightmares, yet entices us into those dark hidden spaces.
:: Who is She?
:: Why does She appeal yet frighten us so?
:: Are you brave enough to journey into the hidden depths of the Underworld and meet the Keeper of Secrets face to face?
:: Are you willing to sip from Her Cauldron of Inner Knowledge, bare open your soul, or lay your neck under Her sword?

More details about these short on-line courses will be made available as soon as they are to hand.
